Suggested New Sequencing

Sem 6 – Fam Med/Eye (7), Surgery (7), Int Med (7)
Sem 7 – O&G (7), Psy (7), Paeds (7)
Sem 8 – O&G (5), Surgery (5), Int Med/Derma (5), District Selective (5), Elective (4)
Sem 9 – Fam Med/ENT (7), O&G/Anaes (7), Ortho (7)
Sem10– Surgery (7), Paeds/Eye (7), Int Med (7)
**Radio/A&E integrated into postings**

Personally, I think the new sequencing is better for students. Most postings’ duration are lengthened. Students can be more familiar with each posting. I agree that the Radiology and A&E postings are not a posting by itself anymore. They should be incorperated in every posting. The only part I disagree is students are only exposed to Orthopaedics posting during semester 9. Isn’t is a bit late since it is one of the important posting as well?

What do you think about the new sequencing? Leave your comment.

I guess you like O&G a lot. Looking at your new syllabus, Sem7, 8, and 9 will have O&G posting, with a total of 19 weeks! That’s a bit bulky, isnt it?
I agree that minor postings should be incorporated into major field like Int Med and Fam Med.
But in terms of mobilization of resources, we really got to crack our head a lot…
Hmm, have you suggested this to our new SRC?

Lol…I don’t really like O&G. Just feel the new sequencing is better than the older one.

Don’t need to make any suggestion. This will be the sequencing for the coming batch 🙂

Btw, just to add in, they will go to BP in sem8…

Hmm, did they officially release the new sequence? Personally, I agree with you about the ortho posting. I also feel that O&G is too long! I feel that small postings like ENT and Eye should be given more emphasis. I also feel that Psy is far far too long. I only had 2 weeks of Psy when I was an undergrad and that was an elective. Anyway, that’s my personal view and it didn’t matter during the meeting what I thought. 😦

I dun feel like commenting unless this schedule is brought up in the meeting and proposed and apporved. At least, we got a review on that.

the matter is we don have neurology and we are very weak in it. Where is our neurology posting?

We shud have forensic medicine also.. which allow us to see some cadavers… I feel ashamed la when each time people ask.. ei, you got see the dead body ah..

This is people’s expectation out there.. DOc shud touch and see the dead people…

AnE itself shoudl have eanough teaching from the doctors if it;s incooperated into internal med. If students go to AnE department and donno anything and get recurrent scoldings from the MO there, what for? it’s emergeny ald and every students look dumb! will the doctors there be happy?

OnG is alot…and Why OnG is forwarded to sem 9? I think sem 10 will be a better time to train OnG so that once we are released, we have fresh experience.

in new sequecing, the small postings seems vanished.. why put them togther with big postings. Some in sem8, some in 9. some in 10… no order at all..

Who came out with the new sequenc?

    Jimbo :
Don’t think they officially release it yet but a lot of docs seem not interested in it and just left it over (on the table, floor…). Ya another point I forget to mention is Psy posting is too long, 4-5 weeks should be sufficient.

    YY :
Is very hard to get a neuro specialist to teach since there is insufficient of them.

We will learn some forensic medicine in minor posting but mostly theory, not pratical.

You can always tell them we see dead people also but just didn’t dissect them 🙂

About the scolding in A&E, I think this matter doesn’t exist anymore because the bad MO has gone. However, the management in A&E is just so different with what Prof. Chin has taught us.

I think the new O&G posting sequence is ok coz the students will have 3 semesters continuous exposure.

I agree the small postings to be incorporated into main posting. Not necessary to learn together coz they don’t really co-relate to each other.

About who came out with the new sequencing, u can refer to Dean 😀

I wonder how you korek the news too.
Going to BP by Sem8 sounds good, but the houses that we rented in Seremban will be left empty for half a year leh…
How about the PD attachment? Drop it off would be better.

YY : No need korek la. A lot of ppl know about this. Just ur psy posting a bit outdated.
