Minor Posting Postmortem

Started my 1st posting in Emergency Department. Two weeks just flied without learning much how to handle emergency case. No seminar, no guidance, just wandering around most of the time. Self-learning!!! Maybe. We learned how to become a good medical assistant (MA). We took BP & ECG, set up intravenous line, did catherterization and some bandaging. That’s all. Then, why not learned from the doctors in the department? Not because they were not friendly, it’s mainly because their management were not 100% correct. We did not wish to learn wrong management. What to do? Really a wasted posting. It will be a good posting if there is guidance and more organized activities

 

My 2nd posting – ophthalmology. It was a well-organized posting. Nice lecturer who taught with patient. Really learn a lot from him although I had to indianized my English. We can learn even more if there is a clinic session for us even once a week. And, the posting was just too short. Ideally, it should be 3-4 weeks

 

My 3rd posting – ENT. Again, a well-organized posting with seminars, case presentations, clinic sessions and operation theatre (OT) session. It is the easiestposting among the four. Simple pathology with simple management. Enjoy it very much. It will be even better if the OT session is shorten or there is someone else to guide us during the session. If not, we will just stand there, blindly watching the operation  

 

Final posting – dermatology. An only clinic posting……lolbut the specialist was just so nice. He was purely a spoon-feeder. We just need to attend his clinic and listened to what he said. Have seen plenty of cases during his clinic session. Really an interesting but tough posting. All the skin diseases just looked the same. Besides, the procedures in skin clinic were cool, so different from other postings. Don’t ever miss it. Finally, we will have a chance to visit other places such as Jelebu and Kuala Pilah. Good experience
